Step-by-Step Production Process of Glucose Granules

Step 1: Premixing in the High Shear Granulator

The first critical step involves loading the glucose powder, maltodextrin, and corn starch into the High Shear Granulator.

  • Premixing Time: 2 minutes

  • Main Impeller Speed: 20 Hz

  • Objective: The powerful impeller ensures the rapid and uniform blending of the dry powders, which is a prerequisite for high-quality wet granulation.

Step 2: Wet Granulation Process

Once the dry mixing is complete, the wet granulation process begins by adjusting the equipment’s operating parameters.

  • Purified Water Added: 4 kg

  • Water Addition Time: 30 seconds

  • Objective: The rapid and precise addition of purified water, combined with the high shear action, forces the powder mixture to agglomerate and form dense, uniform wet granules.

Step 3: Vacuum Transfer to the Fluid Bed Dryer

To maintain a closed-loop, GMP-compliant production environment, the wet granules are automatically transferred.

  • Material Transfer Time: 10 minutes

  • Control Parameters: Adjusting fan speed and inlet air valves.

  • Objective: Using a negative pressure (vacuum) conveying system, the wet materials are safely sucked into the Fluid Bed Dryer, ensuring stable fluidization from the very beginning of the transfer.

Step 4: Fluid Bed Drying

Once inside the fluid bed, the wet granules are suspended in a stream of heated air.

  • Drying Time: 30 minutes

  • Control Parameters: Setting precise inlet air temperature and adjusting fan speeds to maintain optimal fluidization.

  • Objective: This thermodynamic process ensures gentle and even drying, preventing granule degradation while removing moisture effectively.

Step 5: Filter Bag Shaking (De-dusting)

To maintain thermodynamic efficiency during the drying process, the equipment’s filter bags must be kept clean to allow proper airflow.

  • Shaking Frequency: 5 shakes every 15 seconds.

  • Objective: This automated shaking prevents powder accumulation on the filters, ensuring consistent airflow and reducing drying time.

Step 6: Drying Completion

  • Target Moisture Content: 4%

  • Objective: The drying phase automatically concludes when the granules’ moisture content drops to 4%, yielding perfectly dried granules ready for the final sizing.

Step 7: Dry Milling & Final Sizing

The dried granules are then passed through a dry granulator (milling system).

  • Objective: This final step breaks down any oversized agglomerates, guaranteeing a uniform particle size distribution. The result is a free-flowing, highly soluble glucose granule product ready for sachet packaging or further processing.
